2012年的歐洲杯足球賽於六月八日到七月一日之間，在波蘭和烏克蘭舉行。這是這兩國首度舉辦歐洲杯足球冠軍賽。今年最後進入冠軍賽的隊伍共有十六支，他們都是從2010到2011年間，全歐五十一個國家足球隊比賽中勝出的菁英隊伍。獲得這次歐洲杯冠軍賽的隊伍，將能參加明年在巴西舉行的世足賽。這次的比賽將在波蘭和烏克蘭的八座球場中舉行，兩國為了舉辦這次比賽，特別興建了六座新的球場。參賽的十六支隊伍包括了英、丹、法、德、希、義、瑞典、西、俄、愛、葡、烏、波、荷、捷和克羅埃西亞。
這份合輯，特別挑選了多首和這十六支參賽隊伍有強烈聯結的知名樂曲，像過去橘色的荷蘭隊就以「凱旋進行曲」進場聞名，德國隊則為「女武神的飛行」和「歡樂頌」。「巴賽隆納」當然是西班牙隊專屬、「不再獨行」則是利物浦足球俱樂部著名的隊歌。帕華洛帝、卡列拉斯、多明哥、羅素華生、蕭提、梅塔、曼西尼、慕辛格等最受推崇的音樂家之演出錄音，為這場年度盛會增添光彩！
