這套專輯是為向美國一代女高音潔西．諾曼致敬而特別發行，收錄其生前未曾公開過的6份珍貴錄音。她不但是近代最傑出的聲樂家，也是對歌唱藝術絕對忠誠且最受肯定的音樂家，絕對是古典音樂的偉大人物之一。1945年9月15日出生於喬治亞州，四十多年演唱生涯與唱片錄音，共獲得五項葛萊美獎的肯定，其中包含了終身成就獎；另外還有美國國家藝術獎章、聯合國榮譽大使、奧地利共和國科學與藝術榮譽十字勳章等。2019年9月30日因病離世。
潔西．諾曼能從女低音唱到戲劇女高音的寬廣音域和雄偉宏亮的音量令人折服，並因演唱理查．史特勞斯的藝術歌曲受到推崇。龐大的體型與膚色一直是她在歌劇界遭遇到的最大阻力。但最終成為當代最受愛戴的歌唱家，也是演出酬勞最高的歌手之一。作為一位美籍南方黑人，潔西．諾曼長年在美國歌劇界並未獲得太多肯定與掌聲。前往歐洲發展之後，她出色的戲劇女高音有了較多的表現空間。她在1969年獲得慕尼黑ARD國際歌唱大賽的首獎，並因此獲得柏林德意志歌劇院的三年演唱合約，讓她在這個對黑人嚴重歧視的德國歌劇界，不僅能演出歌劇《唐懷瑟》中的女主角，成為黑色的伊莉莎白，更顛覆了歷史傳奇劇的傳統，讓柏林樂評界讚她為「自德國女高音洛特蕾曼以來最偉大的聲音」。其後她不但在德語歌劇和藝術歌曲上勤奮不懈的努力，更進一步推向義大利語歌劇，最終唱進米蘭史卡拉歌劇院成為阿伊達，征服全歐。
本套專輯包含3CD，均為首度發行。由於潔西．諾曼是一位完美主義者，經常拒絕出版她認為不夠好的錄音，因而直到如今樂迷才有機會聽到她晚年重要的紀錄。這些作品本質上就是愛情的詩篇，各有不同的風貌，完美彰顯潔西．諾曼多樣的詮釋功力；無論何種曲目，均能動人呈現。
錄音介於1989-1998年間，是潔西．諾曼對演唱生涯最後的告別；其中包含1998年於錄音室完成的華格納《崔斯坦與伊索笛》選曲，由潔西．諾曼演唱伊索笛（Isolde）一角。另外還有多份現場錄音：1989年的理查．史特勞斯《最後四首歌》、1992年的華格納《威森東克之歌》，1994年的海頓《貝芮妮絲》、白遼士《克利奧佩特拉》與布列頓《費德拉》等。專輯內含一本68頁的解說冊，揭露這些錄音背後不為人知的故事，並附原文與英文翻譯歌詞及多幀珍貴照片。
